Upper School
Skyuka Hall upper school is a distinctive, student-centered learning environment designed to empower students with learning differences. Our college preparatory program is deeply rooted in Skyuka Hall’s mission: to provide individualized support that fosters academic growth, personal confidence, and lifelong success.
At Skyuka Hall, we recognize that no two students learn in the same way. Each student who enters our Upper School is assessed daily by our experienced and compassionate faculty to identify their unique learning profile. From these observations, we develop a personalized learning plan tailored to each student's strengths, needs, and goals. These plans are dynamic and are continually monitored and adjusted as students grow and develop new skills.
A core objective of our program is to help students gradually reduce their reliance on accommodations by equipping them with strategies that work best for them. By the time they graduate, our students are prepared to thrive in post-secondary education settings with the confidence and independence they have cultivated at Skyuka Hall.
Our Upper School maintains an average student-to-teacher ratio of 8:1, allowing for highly individualized instruction and strong student-teacher relationships. This small class size enables our educators to tailor the pace of instruction and provide both additional scaffolding and increased academic rigor as needed.
Skyuka Hall offers a rigorous college preparatory curriculum that includes a wide range of courses designed to build durable academic and life skills. Students also have the opportunity to enroll in Dual Enrollment courses, allowing them to earn both high school and college credit. Our curriculum emphasizes practical and transferable skills to prepare students for life beyond the classroom.
We provide a diverse array of electives across the arts, social sciences, and computer science fields. Courses such as Computer-Aided Design, Sound Engineering at Skyuka, and Multimedia Arts are designed not only to engage students creatively but also to prepare them for direct entry into the workforce, if they choose.
Our Work Study Program is another hallmark of the Upper School experience. Junior and senior students can split their time between academic studies and real-world job sites, gaining valuable workplace experience while earning school credit. Additionally, our multimedia programs include Career Technical Education (CTE) courses, allowing students to explore a variety of technical fields virtually and discover potential career paths aligned with their interests.
We also place a strong emphasis on transition planning and counseling services. Our counseling team supports students in understanding their strengths and areas for growth, exploring career interests, and navigating the college application and admissions process. At Skyuka Hall, we believe that preparing our students for the future means equipping them with both the academic foundation and the personal insight to lead successful and fulfilling lives.
Together, we are shaping students into confident, capable individuals who leave Skyuka Hall with a heartfelt conviction that they can—and will—make a positive impact on their communities and the world.

By giving our students practice in talking with others, we give them frames for thinking on their own.
