FIRST DAY SCHEDULE - AUGUST 14, 2026

At Skyuka Hall, we believe every student should feel welcomed, included, and excited for the very first day of school. That's why we kick off the year with House Day, a day dedicated to building friendships, celebrating our school community, and having a whole lot of fun!

Wear your house colors and come ready to laugh, cheer, and show your House spirit! The day is filled with indoor and outdoor activities, friendly competition, team-building, and plenty of opportunities to connect with classmates and teachers. New students and faculty will take part in our House Sorting Ceremony, where they'll officially join one of our four houses and become part of their new house family.

Returning students should wear their house shirt with their uniform bottoms. New students should wear a gray or navy T-shirt with uniform bottoms.

Whether you're joining us for the first time or returning to your house, we can't wait to celebrate with you and kick off an amazing school year together!

The first day of school is a half day for students.  Drop off will begin at 7:30 AM for lower and middle school students with pick up at 11:30 AM.  Drop off will begin at 8:00 AM for upper school students with pick up at 12:00 PM. Please see the car line information above for drop off and pick up procedures.

Students will not have lunch this day but should bring a water bottle and sunscreen as some activities will take place outside.

FORMS

Yearly registration forms will be available this week in your MySkyuka portal.  Please submit all required forms prior to Opening Day.

HANDBOOK

Please visit the MySkyuka Resource Board to access the 2026-27 Skyuka Hall Community Handbook. To view the handbook, simply click on the 'Resources' tab at the top of the portal screen.

The handbook contains essential information, procedures, rules, and important details. It is incumbent that families familiarize themselves with the handbook prior to Orientation.

LOCKS AND LOCKERS

Each upper and middle school student will be assigned a locker at the beginning of the schoolyear. Students who wish to place a lock on their locker must provide their own lock.  The student’s teacher must be given the lock combination and/or a copy of the key to ensure access.  If a locker must be accessed and the student has failed to provide the required combination or key, the lock will be cut and removed.  Skyuka Hall is not responsible for replacing or reimbursing the student for the lock.

LUNCH AND CATERING

Students are responsible for bringing their own lunch and utensils to school or participating in the school’s catering program. There are microwaves available for food that needs to be warmed. The school provides milk only. A vending machine is available for snacks, drinks, and small lunch purchases. Families are responsible for vending machine purchases.

To minimize classroom disruptions and maintain campus security, food deliveries from restaurants or third-party delivery services (e.g., DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, etc.) will not be accepted. Only lunches delivered by a parent or guardian to the front desk will be accepted by the school.

Skyuka Hall has partnered with School Eatery to offer individually packaged catered lunches.  School Eatery is a professionally managed and operated hot lunch program that provides our families the ease of placing food orders for their students from designated local restaurants for up to five (5) days each week. More information will be available at Orientation.

MEDICATION

Families of students requiring medication while at school are responsible for providing the school with an updated Skyuka Hall Medication Administration Authorization Form. This form must include any over-the-counter medications taken on a regular basis. To give the schoolpermission to dispense over the counter medication as needed, please complete the Skyuka HallOver the Counter Medication Form. Any change in medication, including the dosage of medication and/or the instructions for administering medication, must be documented with the front desk receptionist. Changes in medication and/or dosages of medication given at school can be made only if the family has submitted a new medication form. Under no circumstances may any school team member alter the dosage of medication according to any variations in student behavior during the school day.

Medication must be delivered to the school by a parent or guardian in the original prescription bottle (labeled with the student’s name, name of the medication, expiry, proper dosage, and directions for administration) that matches the information provided on the Medication Administration form. All prescribed medications must be delivered, counted, and verified by the parent/guardian and front desk personnel. Under no circumstances is medicine to be delivered via student or handed to a team member in student drop off or pick up lines.  Students are not permitted to have medication on their person unless given special permission by administration.

Families may check in medications with the front desk at the new Skyuka Hall campus July 27 - July 30 between the hours of 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM or during Orientation.  Please complete your student's Medication Form(s) prior to arrival.

MYSKYUKA

Skyuka Hall uses the Blackbaud platform for both its Student Information System and Learning Management System. This platform is affectionately known as MySkyuka.

Skyuka Hall will host a MySkyuka training session on Wednesday, August 19 at 5:30 PM for all interested families.  This session will be held at the Skyuka Hall campus and will provide an overview of how MySkyuka is used.  Staff will be available to answer any questions you may have.

NEW STUDENT TESTING

As part of our enrollment process, all new students entering grades 1–11 will participate in an academic assessment, the WRAT5 (Wide Range Achievement Test, Fifth Edition). This brief assessment measures word recognition, spelling, math, and reading comprehension to help tailor each student's educational experience. New families should refer to the email sent by Dr. Bocian on Monday, July 13, for instructions on signing up for testing appointments, which will take place at our new campus. If you are unable to attend one of the scheduled testing times, the assessment will be conducted during the first full week of school.

SCHOOL HOURS

This year we are implementing staggered start times to avoid car line congestion and prevent traffic from backing up into the neighborhood. This change aims to enhance safety and improve the overall experience for our students and families as we transition to a single car line system. Start times are as follows:

  • Lower School:
    • Start Time: 8:00 AM (Drop-off begins at 7:30 AM)
    • End Time: 3:00 PM (Pick up until 3:30 PM)
  • Middle School:
    • Start Time: 8:00 AM (Drop-off begins at 7:30 AM)
    • End Time: 3:00 PM (Pick-up until 3:30 PM)
  • Upper School:
    • Start Time: 8:30 AM (Drop-off begins at 8:00 AM)
    • End Time: 3:30 PM (Pick-up until 4:00 PM)

We appreciate your understanding and support as we make this adjustment for the benefit of our community.

SCHOOL UNIFORMS

Students are expected to dress in a manner that reflects the values of Skyuka Hall and promotes a positive, respectful learning environment. Student appearance must demonstrate the high standards of personal responsibility, school pride, and professionalism expected of every Skyuka Hall student and may never disrupt or detract from the educational setting. When representing Skyuka Hall, students are expected to be neat, clean, and appropriately dressed both on campus and at all school-sponsored activities, including field trips, unless otherwise directed. Students are required to wear the approved school uniform each day unless notified of a special event. Uniform items may be purchased from any retailer provided they meet the school's uniform guidelines. Skyuka Hall also maintains uniform partnerships with Lands' Endand locally owned ABC Apparel. You may view the dress code in the Community Handbook here.

SUPPLIES AND SUPPLY LISTS

School supplies are available for purchase through School Tool Box.

If you wish to purchase supplies individually, please see the lower school, middle school, and upper school supply lists.

UPPER SCHOOL ELECTIVES

Dr. Bocian will be sending an email this week regarding the selection of electives for upper school students for the upcoming fall semester.

TECHNOLOGY

All students are required to have a laptop computer, preferably a Chromebook, to use in their classes at school. Families must purchase their own device that can be brought back and forth to school each day. Devices must have Google Chrome OS 65 or higher, Windows 8.1 or higher, macOS 10.13 High Sierra or higher, and at least 4GB of memory.

New families should bring their student's device to the new Skyuka Hall campus July 27 - July 30 between the hours of 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM to facilitate the setup of their school Google accounts. Please ensure that all computers are clearly labeled with the student's name and grade, fully charged, absent of a family security link, and not password-protected prior to drop off.
